Eyebrow palaver

Eyebrow palaver

By Mercy Oluwole

Hello fashionistas. We all know the latest concern of real fashonistas. If you don’t have this issue, you have either learnt the art, or you don’t have fashion running in your veins. Yes, I’m talking about the eyebrows. Hmmm…. Is that a smile on your face? My darlings, you need to see me anytime I have to go out; 30 minutes on brows and nothing less and at the end, the left brow will somehow be smaller than the right. Chai! It isn’t easy. That is why I don’t blame anyone who comes out with crooked brows; I can just imagine how long it took to get the brows even to that level. But it is important to have nice-looking brows to go with the pretty face.

In order to achieve that, you need to go the extra mile. If you can’t register with a make-up school, there are other ways to master the art (Yes o. It is that serious). Thank God for Google. All you need to do is to type in “Eyebrow tutorials” and a lot of images will appear to support the write-ups you will find. I will give you my own write-up on how I manage not to look like a scarecrow when am done with my make-up.

First, you will need the instruments for the art, namely, brown eyeliner, eyebrow definer, concealer and a set of make-up brushes. (You can get all of these at any cosmetics store).

Step one:

Use the make-up brush that looks like a toothbrush and brush up your brow. Then brush down the end part of your brows.

Step two:

Use your eyeliner to create an outline. It can either be a straight outline or in dots (remember how you drew during art class in primary school?)

Step three:

Your definer comes with its own brush, so use it to fill the inside of the outline you created with the eyeliner. The definer comes in two colors (mostly): Brown and black. Use the brown one for the beginning of the brows so it can have a natural look. Then use the black from the middle of the brows to the end.

Step four:

Use your concealer brush to clean up any rough area around the brows after application of definer.

Step five:

Blend concealer with your powder, so it would look natural.

Don’t worry; I won’t leave you with words alone. There are pictures showing all the steps I just talked about. Also in your spare time, you can download tutorial videos and practise even if you are not going out. Good luck becoming a brow pro!
