Widow loses hubby’s entitlement to devious lover

Widow loses hubby’s entitlement to devious lover

The heart of man is desperately wicked, so says the Holy Writ. Most people would do anything for money… which is why many engage in money making rituals, which require taking lives of fellow human beings to get rich quick. And there are those who don’t kill other human beings in the manner of money ritualists, but who engage in practices that leave fellow humans emotionally damaged for life, in their quest for quick wealth. This is why everyone must operate with wisdom in everything we do, especially in our relationships with others.

A young man in his late 30s who belongs to the latter category of quick wealth seekers recently left a widow desolate by taking advantage of the loneliness that followed her husband’s demise to plunder her inheritance. The widow and her late spouse worked in the same government parastatal in Lagos for years before his tragic death. After his death, the young man got wind of the fact that the deceased’s entitlements were being processed and the figure ran into several millions of naira, since the man was a high-ranking official. His widow was to collect the benefit, being his next of kin.

The young man was able to obtain these information because he worked in the same office with both the deceased and his widow, and such official secrets have a way of filtering around the office among the staff. He immediately saw the whole scenario as his opportunity to make it big. He decided it was his chance to corner a big chunk of the money to enrich himself. So, he quickly moved closer to the widow, consoling her and helping her out with some errands. In no time, he pretended to have fallen in love with her, and the widow stupidly believed him. Meanwhile, this guy is married, but his wife works in the Port Harcourt office of the same parastatal. He must have had a quiet wedding, for no one knew in his office that he was married. And what’s more, his marriage was blessed with two kids!

A romantic affair soon began between the guy and the widow, and she placed her husband’s cars and other properties at his disposal. Even the fact that the widow was older than the man did not seem to matter to her. When she collected her husband’s entitlements, she and her lover boy were having a good time lavishing the money on themselves. The lover boy had perfect control over the money as he cruised around with the late man’s choice cars.

Then after about a year, someone who knew his wife contacted her, and the wife got a tip-off on her husband’s escapades with the widow. Not willing to lose her man, she quickly applied for transfer to their Lagos office to put an end to the affair. When she reported for duty at her new office, everyone was shocked to learn that she was the wife of the man they had known for long but never knew was married. And that marked the end of the man’s relationship with the widow. But by this time, the man had already helped the widow to squander her husband’s entitlements. She was left empty and hopeless, and she cried for days on end, lamenting that the man deceived her by concealing his marital status.

Her colleagues blamed her for being so foolish to have jumped into a relationship with her colleague soon after her husband’s death. They said even if she would go into such a relationship, it should have been with someone outside the office who had no means of knowing what she stood to collect as her husband’s entitlement. The trio are now in a very awkward situation of having to work together in the same office, while the future of the widow and her four kids hangs in the balance as a result of the financial mess the deceitful lover boy created for them.
