Fake virgin jilted on wedding eve
A graduate of laboratory science who did her mandatory youth service in Jos fell in love with a young, enterprising engineer. The duo hit it off in a fashion that would make the legendary relationship between Romeo and Juliet patter into insignificance. In the course of their courtship, the lab scientist soon discovered that her boyfriend came from a good Christian home, well-reserved and morally upright who never bothered to touch her. Many a time, she would spend the night with him but the engineer resisted bedding her. Rather, he would spare the bedroom for her and sleep on the couch in the sitting room.
The engineer was every girl’s ideal man for a husband. To balance the equation, the girl told her man that she was a virgin. The thought of the fact that he had landed a virgin in a society where sexual promiscuity is the order of the day, deepened their relationship. Bringing a virgin into his life, the young man had reasoned, was God’s reward for his decent lifestyle.
About six months into their courtship, the engineer felt it was time to formalize their relationship. This entailed getting to know the parents and relations of his girlfriend and vice versa. They travelled to Lagos, Ibadan, and Abuja among other places where they both had relations. Two years after hitting it off, a wedding plan was set in motion.
The traditional wedding was held in Lagos last November and was well-attended by relations and friends. With that first step already conquered, the lab scientist knew that the die was cast and marriage was the ultimate destination.
One morning, the lab scientist placed a call to her man from Lagos where she had gone to visit a sick cousin. She complained that she had been feeling some pains in her waist region and had to go and see a family doctor. The young engineer became worried and was planning to catch the next flight from Jos to Lagos but she persuaded him not to bother and that she would be alright.
After the visit that lasted for one week, she returned to Jos and told her man that her condition was so critical she had to be hospitalized for three days and placed under close observation. She quickly added that she did not want to cause a panic hence she kept the hospitalization development to herself and assured him that she was perfectly okay.
By the close of last year, the duo and their parents agreed that the wedding proper should hold during the Easter period. Invitation cards were printed and dispatched to friends and relations across the country. Indeed, the wedding bells were tolling and everyone was looking forward to a wedding that would be the talk of Lagos for a long time to come.
Then one evening, the bride-to-be sat her man down and told him she had something to tell him about her virginity status. The engineer caught his breath, afraid that his fiancée’s most prized possession had been stolen by some faceless rapist during her visit to Lagos. After fidgeting for a short while, she told her man that in the course of examining her during her admission at the hospital, the doctor accidentally punctured the hymen.
The engineer was stupefied by the news and wondered aloud how pains along the waistline would lead to a doctor’s “entry” into her private part as to break the hymen. He found the story hard to believe. The truth of the matter was that the lab scientist lost her virginity years before she met her man. She only played along and waited for the most appropriate time to cook up an excuse for the loss of her virginity. She had reasoned that if she came up with the encounter with the doctor at the time that their wedding date had been fixed and all necessary arrangements put in place, her man would take it with philosophical calm and everything would be fine. But the engineer was not only pissed off by the weird development but also felt conned because he did not believe her story.
Nevertheless, he played along with the wedding arrangements, while he conducted some background checks on his fiancé… a thing he never considered doing at the outset of the relationship. By the time he got to the bottom of his findings and discovered that his virgin fiancée was, in fact, a loose chic during her university days, the journey to the altar was a matter of days away. He flew into Lagos quite alright. And everything appeared to be set on the wedding eve.
However, unknown to the bride-to-be, her fiancé had taken the last flight from Lagos the previous night... destination was his base in Jos. He had also talked to his parents about the deceit and advised them not to bother going to Lagos for the occasion. He then dealt a coup de grace to the proposed wedding via a text message sent to her, detailing all his findings and her deceit. She broke down in tears and became inconsolable even as her parents, relations and well-wishers who had converged on Lagos could not come to terms with the public embarrassment her lying tongue had brought upon them
