Couple in double betrayal
Not many women can endure hard times with their spouses. To women with low endurance level, it is for better for stay, for worse for go … which is a reversal of the time-honoured marital vows.
A young man resident in Ibadan married his heart-throb and the relationship was blessed with two kids. They had lived happily for about five years until things began to go sour for the duo. Unable to cope with the deteriorating condition of life of the family, the wife (let us call her Tundun) decided to walk away with her two kids.
Two or so years after the collapse of the marriage, fortune smiled on the husband (Olowo). His elder brother got a licence to set up a filling station and got him to manage the business for him. Equipped with a secondary school certificate, Olowo was able to make a success of the running of the station. Then, three or so years down the road, he began to nurse some funny ideas. Olowo went diabolical and planted some juju stuffs in and around the station. The aim of the juju was to kill the interest of the senior brother in the business and subsequently keep him away.
He succeeded. Now a big boy, Olowo decided to find himself another wife. One of the female attendants (Nifemi) he employed fitted into his definition of a wife. And before you could spell F-U-E-L, a wedding was in the air. The senior brother was visible throughout the ceremony and lavished guests with heavy entertainment.
There was this understanding between the station manager and the fuel-attendant-turned-wife. They both had agreed that now that the tables had been turned against poverty, he would not entertain any overtures from the (runaway) ex-spouse. But the old flame soon rekindled and Olowo and Tundun began to play away games in hotels and other secret spots. But as it is often said, nothing is hidden under the sun. Nifemi, who was nursing a baby girl, became suspicious of her man’s extra-marital activities and was shocked by what she found out.
Believing that it was her man’s reversal of fortunes that was the cause of Olowo’s betrayal, Nifemi decided to spill the beans. She told Olowo’s benefactor what he did to keep him away from the goldmine he set up for his sibling to administer on his behalf. It was like the scale fell off his eyes. However, Nifemi advised against physical confrontation. Instead, she counseled him to fight back spiritually thereby keeping her “Amebo” role secret.
A few nights after the shocking revelation, Olowo’s brother stormed the station premises accompanied with an arsenal of white garment prayer warriors. They located all the juju points, exhume the objects and made a bonfire of them. Consequently, Olowo was thrown out of the station.
Now gradually returning to square one, Olowo decided to turn to money ritual. He talked Nifemi into agreeing to provide her breast milk and menstrual pad for the purpose. But she was smart enough to suggest that Olowo should be patient so that they could have a second baby. With two kids in tow, they could afford to do money ritual after which it would be impossible to have more kids. Olowo agreed with his wife, unknown to him that she floated the balloon in order to buy time for her escape.
A few months after weaning their baby, Nifemi announced that she had taken in and was four months pregnant. Olowo was hopeful that the baby in the womb would be a boy. However, he became suspicious when the tummy refused to bulge. One morning, he practically dragged his wife to a nearby maternity hospital for scanning. Olowo was pissed off when the scanning revealed an empty womb. He abandoned Nifemi at the hospital and raved his way back home.
Still raving like a lunatic, Olowo descended on the deceiver on returning home and pummeled her to a pulp. Nifemi knew the end had come for the marriage. So, she hurriedly gathered all her belongings into a getaway taxi and vamoosed into the thin air also with her own baby in the manner that Tundun did when the going became tough.
The Olowo-Nifemi saga was an instance of double betrayal: Olowo betrayed Nifemi by going out with his ex-wife and the latter hit back by spilling the beans to their benefactor.
