EPL debutants who hit the ground running

Ander Herrera (Man U): Ander Herrera Aguera was the star of the tough La Liga side Athletic Bilbao, putting in fine performances that saw the club qualify for this season’s Champions League. It is no surprise that the club struggled in the early parts of the season after his departure. He made more tackles than any player that made Spain’s World Cup squad in Brazil, last year, yet he was left out by Vicente Del Bosque. Herrera was subject of a transfer to Manchester United last season, but the deal dramatically collapsed. One year later, United got their man for 28.25 million pounds after the Basque midfielder activated his buyout clause. In a United’s side that have put in mixed performances this season, Herrera has been one of the shining lights, scoring three goals and grabbing four assists, completing 740 passes of which 61% were forward passes. He has created 14 chances and boasts an average pass accuracy of 88%, easily one of the best in League. Expect more of the same from the baby- faced midfielder as the season glides to a close.

Dusan Tadic (Southampton): The first signing made by Southampton following an exodus earlier on, the Serbian left sided midfielder has undoubtedly been one of Southampton’s best players. He joined from FC Twente on July 8, 2014, signing a four-year deal for around 10.9 million pounds. Tadic has scored four goals and assisted seven for the Saints, including four assists in the same match against Sunderland. He will also be remembered for scoring in a 2-0 win over Arsenal, a 1-0 win over Man United and a 1-1 draw with Chelsea. Fraser Forster (Southampton): Having spent part of his youth career in the Premier League with Newcastle, Forster later ended up with Celtic on loan, before signing permanently with the Scottish giants. He made his name with the club, winning many plaudits for his goalkeeping performances and he also holds the Scottish Premiership record of 1, 256 minutes without conceding a goal. On the evening of August 8, 2014, Celtic and Southampton agreed a 10 million pound fee, with the latter announcing the deal the next day. Forster have been one of the best goalkeepers this season, and he holds the record for the most clean sheets with 13, putting him firmly in the race for the Golden Glove award.

Lukas Fabianski (Swansea): Fabianski was Arsenal’s former number 21. The Polish goalkeeper rejected a contract extension with the Gunners, saying he wanted to be the number one goalkeeper. He was then snapped up on a free transfer after his contract expired on July 1, 2014. His performances this season have been sublime for the Swans, and with Arsenal goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny. putting in mixed performances and getting in the headlines for the wrong reasons, the Gunners’ fans have started to wonder if Wenger sold the wrong Polish keeper. Fabianski has 10 clean sheets to his name, more than any Arsenal keeper has managed all season. Hits?! The choice is yours.
