UEFA Champions League q/finals preview

Madrid brothers at war

By Gbenga Isaac, Abuja

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will lock horns for the seventh time this season when they face off at the Vicente Calderon. Los Blancos will be out for revenge after losing 4-0 at the same venue in La Liga, in a game where five first team regulars were out injured. Real will also have a fully fit squad for the first time in five months. Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez will be available having missed the weekend win over Eibar through suspension. Atletico will also be boosted by the return of Mario Mandzukic who has missed the last two games. The 4-1 humbling in the Champions League final last season is still fresh in memory, and it will be all to play for in this Madrid derby.

Monaco eye semis

Monaco will be eyeing a semi-final place, but they will have to get past the Old Lady at the Juventus Stadium. Monaco had an impressive round of 16, beating Arsenal away from home but were silenced at the Stade Louis. Despite that they still went through on away goals, and they will now be buoyant against a Juventus side who were beaten by bottom side Parma in Serie A. Juve though remain favourites to win as they target a return to European glory. Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba will be the main men for the Old Lady, as they have been all season.
