Fake pastors and scandals are two sides of the same coin. Those who were not called by God, and they are legion, but gate-crashed into the ministerial work do not have the fear of God in them, even though they pretend to be holy. As a result, they secretly engage in scandalous acts that are not befitting of their so-called calling.

A pastor of a Pentecostal church in Jos recently shocked members of his congregation to their bones when his secret exploits came into the open. The young, dashing pastor was engaged to a sister in the church, and the relationship which lasted for two years was known to members of the church who fondly referred to the sister as their Mama in the making. They loved their pastor and his fiancée so dearly, and they were looking forward to the day he would announce their wedding date.

Then suddenly, rumours began to fly around that the pastor had switched over to another sister who newly joined the church. The sister in question was seen from time to time going in and out of the pastor’s office. And before long, the rumour was confirmed, when during a Sunday service, the pastor announced his engagement and wedding to the new sister. Everyone began to look in the direction of his former fiancée, wondering what went wrong between her and the pastor. She kept her cool during the service, even though she wished the ground would open and swallow her up. But by the next Sunday service, she lost the cool and stunned the whole congregation with a revelation of her sex escapades with the pastor.

Standing in front of the congregation, she told the worshippers that during their two-year courtship, the pastor impregnated her thrice, and on the three occasions, he made her abort the pregnancies! The church members were flabbergasted that their pastor was not who they thought he was. The lady was desperate as she begged the church to consider what she had been through with the pastor. She said there was no quarrel between them, but the pastor obviously had gotten what he wanted from her and was jilting her for a new sister. In tears, she asked the church for forgiveness, and pleaded with them to disallow the pastor from going ahead with his proposed marriage to the other sister.

There was confusion in the church hall following the revelations of the sister. And in the midst of the confusion, the so-called pastor put on a brave face and denied the allegations leveled against him. He tried to calm the congregation but the damage had already been done. At that point, an elder got up and asked the sister if she could prove what she just said. And the sister answered in the affirmative, saying she was ready to produce the doctor who performed the abortions for her.

Continuing, she said her roommate was aware that she wasn’t feeling well on the days she committed the abortions, and that the roommate even suspected what she did once because she noticed she was bleeding and in pains but she denied it, claiming it was just her menses that was unusually heavy and painful that month. She said her denial of the truth was to protect the pastor whom everyone knew was her fiancée. And she scored another point when she said she wrote it down in her diary each time she had the abortions, just in case something happened to her during the procedures, and the pastor’s name was mentioned in those records as the person responsible for the pregnancies and abortions.

After that eventful service, the congregation broke into two camps. One faction left the church in disappointment to establish a new assembly, while the so-called pastor was left with his close friends in the old church. And he went ahead to marry his new fiancée, while the jilted one was abandoned to lick her wounds.
